5.1.3.4 Protection
Slots
All 17 I/O slots may be used for traffic termination. Slot usage is
determined by the chassis part number. For chassis 85-3000 and
Midplane I, the I/O-7 slot is the recommended DS-1 I/O protection slot
and I/O-9 slot is the DS-3 I/O protection slot if line protection is desired.
Refer to
for the illustration of slot protection. All other I/O
slots can be used for any combination of DS-1 or DS-3 modules. The 85-
3000 chassis does not support the octal DS-3 IOM or Network Access
modules.
