Functional Description
The PNA is an SONET or SDH network access interface, capable of I/O at
the maximum rate available in a single Plexus 9000 slot – 2.48Gbps (four
622Mbps switch-fabric channels).
The PNA module does not have a corresponding rear module. The rear
slot of the corresponding PNA must contain a blank panel to meet the
electromagnetic interference (EMI) and system-cooling requirements. If
there are any unused slots in the front or rear of the chassis, blank panels
must be installed in those slots.
The PNA module can only be installed in system slots 8 and 14 (I/O-8 and
I/O-10). These are the only system slots that contain four OC-12/STM-4
midplane ports. These two slots also contain the interconnection of the
APS buses which are necessary switchover to support APS redundancy.

General Mechanical Representation
The PNA module is approximately 14 inches high and plugs into the mid-
plane for connections to the SF and SP modules. See
for an
illustration of the midplane connector, the PNA module and the front of
the module. Refer to
for a description of the LEDs.
