Assembly
The Plexus 9000 is designed around a compact 13U (22.75") high, 18-inch
deep shelf (including cabling) for mounting in a 23-inch central office
(CO) bay. This package allows up to three shelves to be installed in one
7-foot bay while still accommodating a power and alarm panel, as well as
separating air baffles, as illustrated in
The original chassis with Midplane I is part number 85-3000 which
supports DS1 and triple DS3 I/O modules (IOMs). When the original
chassis has Midplane II installed, it is part number 85-3003 and
additionally supports octal DS3 IOMs. Another chassis with Midplane II,
part number 85-3004, also supports octal DS3 IOMs and has a high-speed
fan shelf. A new chassis, Midplane III, part number 85-3007, is also
available and delivers the same support as Midplane II.
