5.5.3.2 Disk
Drive
Each SP/TMG has a 6 GB IDE disk drive that holds the entire system and
circuit provisioning databases. This strategic location allows for processor
replacement without having to reload the system software in the drive.
This in turn ensures that the system regains full protection capability once
the replacement SP/TMG is inserted.
5.5.3.3 EEPROM
The SP/TMG rear module has an EEPROM (not shown on diagram) that
contains the CLEI code for the module. The CLEI code is read via the
Maintenance Link Controller on the front module so that missing and
incompatible replaceable equipment can be alarmed. The CLEI code of
part number 89-0367-A is BAC7Y50JAA, of 89-0367-B is BAC7Y50JAB
and 89-0367-C and CLEI code BA1CXZMHAA
5.5.3.4 Connectors
5.5.3.4.1 USB
There are two USB interfaces, J1 and J2, which are reserved for future
use.
5.5.3.4.2 RS-232
DB-9
There are two DB-9 RS-232 serial connectors, CRAFT and COM2. The
topmost connector is J3 and labeled “CRAFT”. It provides a connection
for a VT-100 terminal or PC running a terminal emulation program. This
connector is tied to the craft connector on the front SP/TMG module.
Therefore, a single connection should be made to either connector but not
to both at the same time. Refer to
Table 5.5-A
for a description of the
connectors.
illustrates a connection to J3 from a PC/terminal or a
connection using modems to a remote location. Either connection
provides access to the craft interface for configuration and maintenance
using TL1 commands.
The second DB-9 RS-232 connector is labeled “COM2.” It is used by
Telica personnel for emergency access.
5.5.3.4.3 Ethernet
There are two RJ45 connectors, J5 and J6. J5 labeled “SIG ENET” is a
100Base-T attachment. It is used for inter-module signaling and provides
a constant interface to the IP signaling networks. The IP signaling
network interface allows multiple Plexus 9000s to be connected to a
common signaling gateway. The system Signaling network must be
dedicated to the Plexus 9000 systems only and not used with other
equipment.
