The alternator is a non-contact electric machine with single-side electromagnetic excita-
tion and an in-built voltage regulator. The alternator operates in parallel with the accumulator
battery and serves for its recharging, as well as for direct current power supply to the consum-
ers, installed on the tractor.
For the engine start an electric starter is used. On the engines Д-243/243С of tractors
“BELARUS-80.1/82.1/820” the starter of rated voltage 12 V is installed. The starter is a di-
rect current electric motor. Starter switch is remote, with the help of electromagnetic relay
starter switch.
The pneumatic compressor is intended for compressed air injection into the pneu-
matic system of trailer brakes drive and for tyre inflation. When the engine is operating in
agricultural work, which does not require compressed air energy, the compressor has to
be turned off. The pneumatic compressor is of piston type, single-cylinder, air cooled. The
compressor drive is carried out by the fuel pump drive gear. The air flows into the pneu-
matic compressor cylinder from the engine intake pipe through the flexible valve. Oil for
lubrication of the pneumatic compressor parts enters from the engine lubrication system.
The oil is drained from the pneumatic compressor into the engine oil sump.
To ensure steering control operation a gear pump is mounted on the engine. The
gear pump is driven by the toothed gear of the timing mechanism.
3.1.2 Engine air cleaning system
Installation of the engine cleaning system elements of tractors “BELARUS-
80.1/82.1/820” is shown in figure 3.1.4.

On tractors “BELARUS-80.1/82.1/820” oil-bath air cleaner 1 (figure 3.1.4) is installed in
which drawn-in air, passing through the oil bath and steel woven filter elements, is cleaned of
dust. Air intake by the air cleaner is carried out through monocyclone 2, which ensures prelimi-
nary inertial cleaning of the air due to the tangential intake and centrifugal forces arising from
spiral rotation of air relative to monocyclone body axis, discharging large dust particles. Air de-
livery to intake manifold of the engine 5 is provided by air duct 4.
To warn about the air filter clogging indication by means of the pilot lamp, located on the
dashboard panel is provided. The electric warning sensor of air filter clogging 3 is installed on air
duct 4 and actuates at underpressure of 6,5 kPa.
