Oil container is hydraulic booster housing 2. Oil filtering is carried out through the
drain filter installed in the housing of the hydraulic booster (rated fineness of filtration is 80
mcm).
Lock sensor 4 mounted on the hydraulic booster housing, is intended for control of
the hydraulic coupling of the tractor rear axle differential lock.
Connection between the steering wheel and the steered wheels is carried out hy-
draulically by means of the oil pipelines and high pressure hoses, connecting dosing pump
3, mounted on the hydraulic booster housing and differential hydraulic cylinder 9, mounted
on the front axle body.
When turning the steering wheel to the left or right in dosing pump 3 compression of
the centering plate springs and rotation of the distribution grooves of the spool (the spool is
connected to the shaft of the steering wheel through the grooves) relative to the grooves of
the sleeve occurs, as a result, oil from feed pump 5 under pressure enters the correspond-
ing cavity "R" or "L" of steering cylinder 9 through the dosing gerotor unit of dosing pump 3
in the volume proportional to the rotation of the steering wheel, and oil from the other cavi-
ty of hydraulic cylinder 9 enters drain line "T" through the channels in the spool and the
sleeve and is drained into the housing of the hydraulic booster.
When you stop turning the steering wheel the sleeve under action of the centering
plate springs of dosing pump 3 returns to neutral position relative to the spool, cylinder hy-
draulic lines “L” and “R” are locked and oil from pressure hydraulic line “P” enters through
the channels in the spool and sleeve on drain “T”, that provides pressure relief in pressure
hydraulic line “P” and relief of feed pump 5.
The locked volume of oil in the cavities of hydraulic cylinder 9 provides stability of
the direction of tractor travel when the steering wheels run-over the unevenness of the
road or soil.
If oil flow from feed pump 5 is too low or there is no oil flow (e.g. when the engine is
stopped, when the engine, feed pump are faulty, when pressure oil pipeline is broken or
when there is no oil in the hydraulic booster housing), then when the steering wheel is ro-
tated dosing pump 3 acts as a manual pump, pumping oil from one hydraulic cylinder 9
cavity to the other, providing turning of the guiding wheels. In the hydraulic drain line back-
flow valves 1 are installed, which rule out air flow into the dosing pump at manual opera-
tion (when the engine is stopped, when the engine, feed pump are faulty, when the pres-
sure oil pipeline is ruined or when there is no oil in the hydraulic booster housing).
The steering force applied by the operator to create the required oil pressure in hydraulic
cylinder 9 at manual operation, increases significantly.
Under normal operating conditions, when feed pump 7 provides the oil pressure re-
quired to turn the guiding wheels, the maximum force applied by the operator to turn the
steering wheel does not exceed 30 N.
If the oil flow from the feed pump is too low or absent (e.g. in case of the diesel en-
gine, feed pump malfunctions, pressure oil pipeline breakage or lack of oil in the tank),
dosing pump 4 acts as a manual pump when the steering wheel is rotated, pumping oil
from one cavity of hydraulic cylinder 11 to the other to ensure that the guiding wheels turn.
The steering force applied by the operator to create the required oil pressure in hydraulic
cylinder 11 during manual operation increases significantly, in some cases up to 600 N.
The composition and operation principle of the dosing pump and the hydraulic cyl-
inder of the tractor steering with HSC with HPS housing installed are similar to the tractors
with HSC installed and are given in subsection 3.12 “Hydrostatic steering control”
3.14.2 Adjustment of axial stroke of turning shaft
To adjust axial stroke of turning shaft 4 (figure 3.13.1) loosen locknut 26, screw ad-
justing bolt 24 as far as it will go into the end of the shaft, then unscrew it 1/8 – 1/10 of a
turn and lock with locknut 26.
