3.10.2.3 Adjustments of FDA with planetary spur wheel gear groups
3.10.2.3.1 Adjustment of differential bearings and the main gear meshing
Adjust main gear meshing only with adjusted differential bearings.
Adjust differential bearings and main gear meshing in the following sequence:
- by selecting the required number of adjusting shims 7 (figure 3.10.6) between
flanges of FDA body 4 and right tube 8 set the size between drive gear shaft 9 and differ-
ential housing 5 in the range from 40,55 to 40, 85 mm. Diametrical shims 7 should have
the same thickness;
- adjust axial play of differential bearings 3 by selecting the necessary number of
adjusting shims 2 between flanges of FDA body 4 and left tube 1. Axial play in adjusted
bearings 3 shall be not more than 0,1 mm. Diametrical shims 2 should have the same
thickness. When tightening FDA body mounting bolts 4 turn differential housing 5, so that
rollers of bearings 3 are positioned correctly in the bearings cages. Control of play in bear-
ings 3 is carried out by the indicator, mounted on drive gear crown 6, by means of axial
movement of differential 5 to the right and to the left with cage of drive gear 15 taken off.
