6.4.6 Technical maintenance every 2000 hours of operation
6.4.6.1 General instructions
Perform the previous operations, as well as operations listed in this subsection 6.4.6.
6.4.6.1 Operation 68. Flushing of the engine cooling system and changing of coolant
Before changing the coolant in the engine cooling system, it is necessary to place the
tractor on a flat horizontal platform, apply the parking brake and put wedges in front of and be-
hind the wheels to avoid spontaneous movement of the tractor. The engine must be shut
down.
WARNING: THE COOLING SYSTEM OF THE ENGINE RUNS UNDER PRESSURE
THAT IS SUPPORTED BY A VALVE IN A PLUG OF THE WATER RADIATOR. IT IS DAN-
GEROUS TO REMOVE THE PLUG WHILE THE ENGINE IS HOT. LET THE ENGINE COOL
DOWN, PUT A THICK CLOTH OVER THE PLUG AND SLOWLY ROTATE TO REDUCE
PRESSURE GRADUALLY BEFORE THE FULL REMOVAL OF THE PLUG. BEWARE OF
BURNS BY HOT FLUID!
To flush the engine cooling system of the tractor and to change the coolant, do the fol-
lowing:
- open plug of water radiator 7 (figure 3.1.5), unscrew drain cocks on the water radiator
and on the cylinder block on the right, drain the coolant.
- tighten the drain cocks on the water radiator and on the cylinder block;
- pour prepared solution into the system through the filler neck of the radiator (the solu-
tion for flushing the engine cooling system consists of 500 g of sodium carbonate and 23 l of
water) to the level of upper edge of filler neck,
- fill expansion tank 5 with the prepared solution up to the top edge of clamp 17 that fas-
tens the expansion tank;
- start the engine and let it run for 5 to 10 minutes with the coolant temperature above
80°C, then stop the engine and drain the solution;
- pour clean water into the cooling system through the radiator filler neck, fill the expan-
sion tank with water up to the upper edge of the clamp, start the engine and let it run for 5 to
10 minutes with the coolant temperature above 80°C, then stop the engine and drain the water
out of the cooling system. If the drained water is dirty, keep flushing the system until the
drained water is clean;
- pour coolant into the cooling system up to the upper edge of radiator filler neck, fill the
expansion tank with coolant up to the upper edge of the clamp;
- start the engine, warm it up till the moment when the coolant temperature becomes
equal to 92 to 95°C, then stop the engine.
- check uniformity of heating of the upper and the lower radiator tanks, and of the radia-
tor core. Let the engine cool;
- check the coolant level by the fullness of the expansion tank. If the coolant level is
lower than 20…30 mm above the bottom of expansion tank, add coolant into the expansion
tank up to the upper edge of the clamp that fastens the expansion tank.
6.4.6.2 Operation 69. Check and adjustment of fuel pump on a stand
Dismount the fuel pump from the engine to send it to a specialized workshop.
ATTENTION: THE FUEL PUMP SHALL BE ADJUSTED BY THE DEALER IN A SPE-
CIALIZED WORKSHOP USING SPECIAL EQUIPMENT!
ATTENTION: DISMOUNTING AND MOUNTING OF FUEL PUMP ON THE ENGINE SHALL
BE CARRIED OUT ONLY BY A QUALIFIED SPECIALIST!
After mounting the fuel pump on the engine, adjust the fixer fuel injection advance angle
in accordance with section 6.4.6.5.
