To Refill the EI Calibration Vial
Materials needed
• PFTBA (05971-60571)
Procedure

Stop any tuning or data acquisition.

Turn off the analyzer. There are several ways to do this:
• In the Tune and Vacuum Control view, select MS OFF from the
Execute
menu.
•
In the
Instrument Control
view in the
Edit Parameters
dialog
box, select MS OFF from the Execute menu.

Remove the analyzer window cover.

Loosen the calibration vial collar ( Figure 7 ). Do not remove
the collar.
5 Pull the calibration vial out. You may feel some resistance
due to residual vacuum.
6 Syringe or pipette PFTBA into the vial. With the vial
vertical, the liquid should be just below the end of the
internal tube, approximately 70 µL of sample.
7 Push the calibration vial into the valve as far as possible.
8 Withdraw the vial 1 mm. This prevents damage when you
tighten the collar.

Turn the collar clockwise to tighten it.
