Prepare the scalable I/O units for external
mounting as described in

manual - Scalable I/O .

Connect the external base device to the
internal base device (X3) or the Ethernet
switch, using an Ethernet cable. 5
Each base device requires its own power
supply. Connect an external power supply to the
external base units, connector X4. 6
