Introduction
This chapter explains how to use the VT100 management facility to
setup and manage your token ring.
Refer to the Preface at the start of this manual for an explanation on
access levels, screen conventions and the use of special characters.
The VT100 management facility enables you to set up important
operational parameters to configure token ring services and modules in
the MSH chassis. It also allows you to monitor the operation of the
token ring services. For instance it enables you to:

use token ring to communicate with the management module (see
page 11-3 ).
■
view the operational state of a selected service (see page 11-7 ) .
■
set the operating mode for the RingBuilder and its Ring-In and
Ring-Out ports (see page 11-7 ) .
■
display MAC addresses on the selected ring and on the RingBuilder (see
page 11-10 ) .
■
display the ring topology (see page 11-12 ) .
■
display statistics at a global ring level (see page 11-11 ), or at a station
level (see page 11-13 ) .
■
display the type and status of the MAU modules belonging to the
selected service (see page 11-16 ) .
■
change the setup of a port on a MAU attached to the service (see
page 11-18 ) .
■
override the local ring section number that a MAU or RingBuilder has
been assigned to via switches (see page 11-19 ) .
