DUA1850-0AAA05
The initial release of the MSH RingBuilder only supports STP cabling at
the Ring-In and Ring-Out ports, later releases may support other
media. Contact your supplier for up-to-date information.
Ring-In Mode -
FAIL-SAFE
/ OPEN / WRAPPED
In FAIL-SAFE mode the Ring-In will automatically wrap in the event
of a cable break. In OPEN mode the ring will not wrap if the cable
breaks, until the Ring-In port has been manually set to WRAPPED.

for more details. The OPEN mode is compatible with IBM 8228
non-managed passive MAUs.
Ring-Out Mode -
FAIL-SAFE
/ OPEN / WRAPPED
In FAIL-SAFE mode the Ring-Out will automatically wrap in the
event of a cable break. In OPEN mode the ring will not wrap if the
cable breaks, until the Ring-Out port has been manually set to
WRAPPED. See

Great care should be taken when Wrapping both Ring-In and Ring-Out
ports at the same time as this will remove the RingBuilder and its local
ring section totally from the external ring. The RingBuilder will still
operate normally with its local ring section.
RingBuilder Mode -
NORMAL
/ REPEATER
Select NORMAL mode to insert the RingBuilder’s local ring section
in the external ring. Alternatively, select the REPEATER mode to
isolate the RingBuilder’s local ring section from the external ring.

DRI Mode -
DISABLED / ENABLED / ENABLED-WITH-LOCK
Select DISABLED if you do not want automatic disconnection of
beaconing stations.
Select ENABLED or ENABLED-WITH-LOCK if you want a beaconing
station to be disconnected from the ring. ENABLED will permit the
station to automatically reconnect itself into the ring if the fault
disappears.
ENABLED-WITH-LOCK requires management action to achieve
