Disabling generation of Link Pulses also disables detection of Link
Pulses. The remote end of the link should not be generating Link Pulses.
Under these conditions repeater ports will assume connectivity and light
the appropriate LEDs,
even if there is no connection.
Resilience
Details of the resilience function are given in
on
CAUTION:
Because the Disable on Boot function enables, or uses the
management module NVRAM settings for all ports, resilient links should
be set up before cabling the ports to avoid creating network loops.
When creating resilient links on Secure Repeater Modules you must
ensure that both the main and standby ports are securely disabled.
DUD mode must be OFF, all Need to Know features must be OFF and
address learning must be OFF.
The resilient link will not operate if
you ignore these instructions.
You cannot change the effect of the Resilience Enable/Disable link on a
module through management. Before you can set up resilient links, you
must ensure the module whose ports you want to use has its resilient
link set in the ‘Resilience Enable’ position.
If you remove a module and replace it with a new and similar module,
the management module will assign previously-saved data to the new
module.
Security features can be applied to a resilient pair provided both ports
have identical security attributes. Security must be set up after
resilience. Use Transcend or other network manager to set the security
attributes for one of the resilient ports. The agent will synchronize the
other port.
