Module
If you manage at Module level, you are managing a single slot.
If you are unsure about the difference between a repeater and a
module, refer to “About Repeaters and Modules” on page 6-2 .

Port
If you manage at Port level, you are able to configure and examine
statistics for individual ports. This allows you to manage individual
users or small workgroups.
The following sections describe what you can manage at each level.

Management Types
There are three types of MSH repeater management.

Configuration
These screens allow you to view how the repeater, module or port is
currently configured. You cannot make any changes from these
screens.
■
Statistics
Viewing statistics on a regular basis allows you to build up a picture of
how your network is performing. If you keep simple daily records you
will see trends emerging and soon notice problems arising before they
cause major network faults. Statistics can be useful to help you get the
best out of your network.
■
Setup
Setup allows you to configure various options for individual ports and
alter the way in which the port operates. In many cases the repeater
will operate satisfactorily in its default setting but it is always a good
idea to disable unused ports to prevent unauthorized access to the
network.
