Start-up Page
A page which automatically prints when the printer is turned on
unless the option is disabled. This page provides basis printer
information such as its name, the current emulation, baud rate, RAM,
page count, resolution, flow control and hard disk setup.
Transmission Protocol
See Protocol.
Typeface
A typeface is a set of characters. The characters in a typeface all have
three things in common: family, style, and character set. See also
Font, Family, and Character Set.
Volatile Parameters
Printer parameters which only last during the current power cycle of
the printer. For example, the PostScript parameter jobname specifies
the name of the current printing job being processed.
WPD File
Windows Printer Description file. A special file providing printer
specific information which is needed by Windows applications so
that the applications work smoothly with the printer.
XON/XOFF
A software-controlled protocol which controls the flow of data in
serial communication. See also DTR/DSR.
