Front Panel Lights (LEDs)
The front panel features seven lights, called LEDs, which indicate
printer status (fig. 5.1). All these lights flash during warm up while
the printer automatically runs self-diagnostic tests. The following list
explains what each LED indicates when it is on or blinking.
The Data LED is the top left light on the
front panel. When it is on and does not
blink, the printer is receiving data. When it
is on and blinking, it indicates that the
printer is processing data.
The Manual LED is the second light from
the left side of the front panel. It is on when
the fold down tray is selected. (The fold
down tray LED in the printer icon also will
be on when the Manual LED is on.)
The Ready LED is the third light from the
left side of the front panel. It is on when the
printer is ready to receive data and stays on
unless an engine error occurs or the printer
cover is opened.
The Printer Icon LEDs on the right side of
the front panel indicate which tray is
selected. Only one LED on this icon is lit at
a time. However, if the Manual Feed Tray
LED (for the fold down tray) is on, the
Manual LED on the far left of the front
panel will be on also. The bottom LED on
this icon only comes on if you have the
optional paper feeder and cassette installed
and that is the chosen media source.
The On Line LED located on the On Line
key is lit when the printer is on line and
ready to receive and process a file. It may
also be on while you are working within the
printer’s menu structure.
