Front Panel Keys
The seven front panel keys provide a quick, convenient way for you
to carry out routine operations such as changing resolutions or
switching emulations.
The On Line key is used to take the printer
on and off line. The display window reads
READY/IDLE when the printer is on line or
OFFLINE if it is off line. The printer must
be on line to receive data from your
computer.
The Form Feed key only operates when the
printer is off line in HP PCL 5 or HP-GL
7475A emulation. Some hosts do not issue a
form feed command at the end of a page.
When this happens, take the printer off line
and press the Form Feed key. A page prints,
clearing any remaining job data from the
printer’s memory. Press the On Line key to
put the printer back on line. Pressing the
Form Feed key while the printer is on line
will not force a blank page from the printer.
The Tray Select key is used to change the
default paper tray. When you press the Tray
Select key, the first tray that appears in the
display window is the current tray or tray
chaining (auto tray switch). Application
settings override this setting. Press the Tray
Select key to toggle between trays or tray
chaining. The printer icon indicator lights to
the right of this key show which tray is
chosen.
Note: The tray options do not appear in
all capital letters in the display
window. Instead the print icon
LEDs indicate the current
selection and whatever tray is
listed is the selected paper tray.
