CineCast HD Version 2.6 Installation and User Manual
MODE SENSE (6)
1 hour x (29.97 frames/sec x 60 sec/min x 60 min/hr) =
107892
frames
PAL (25 Hz):
1 hour x (25 frames/sec x 60 sec/min x 60 min/hr) =
90000
frames.
Mode Page 30h provides a generalized frame count of the number of video
frames decoded.
The decoder reports two different time codes:
•
LTC Output Time Code:
Each channel has an LTC output.
•
GOP Time Code:
Time code found within the GOP header of an MPEG
stream.
Each Time Code group comprises these fields:
Valid
“1” indicates the time code is valid.
“0” indicates the time code is not valid or not present and should be ignored.
Hours
Time Code hours range 0-23 (5-bits).
Minutes
Time Code minutes range 0-59 (6-bits).
Seconds
Time Code seconds range 0-59 (6-bits).
Frames
Time Code frames range 0-29 (NTSC); 0-24 (PAL) (5-bits).
Color Frame
NTSC: Used to synchronize the time code to the NTSC four-field color
sequence:
• “1” for even frame numbers.
• “0” for odd frame numbers.
PAL: Used to synchronize the time code to the PAL eight-field color
sequence:
• “1” for fields 1, 2, 3, and 4.
• “0” for fields 5, 6, 7, and 8.
Drop Frame
NTSC Drop Frame: To minimize the NTSC time error (29.97 Hz vs. 30 Hz), the
first two frame numbers (00 and 01) are omitted from the count at the start of
each minute except minutes 00, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50. When this occurs, the
Drop Frame bit must be set.
PAL: This bit is not used. Set to “0.”
NOTE:
Generally the host S/W can ignore the “Color Frame” and “Drop Frame” bits.
