Connecting GateLock to a router

• Plug one end of the network cable from your ISP to your xDSL/cable

modem’s network port. Plug the other end into GateLock's Internet port.

• Plug one end of the red cable into GateLock’s PC/HUB port. If your router has

an Uplink port, plug the other end of the red cable into this port and move the
HUB-PC dip switch to the PC side. If your router does not have an Uplink
port, plug the other end of the red cable into one of the generic ports and move
the HUB-PC dip switch to the HUB side.

3. Connect your PCs to your router.

4. Plug your GateLock’s power adapter into a power source.

5. Plug your router’s power adapter into a power source.

6. Verify that PC you will use to configure GateLock’s connection settings is using

DHCP. Then, restart this PC.

7. On the same PC, open your Web browser. Enter 192.168.253.1 in the address bar

and configure your GateLock.

8. Verify that every PC connected to your router is using DHCP. For instructions on

how to configure your DHCP settings, see

Configuring your DHCP settings

starting on page 2-3.

9. Restart every PC connected to your router.

Alternative Procedure

If DHCP cannot be disabled on your router, follow this procedure to install GateLock
with a router:

1. Connect the router to GateLock.

• Plug one end of the network cable from your ISP to your xDSL/cable

modem’s network port and plug the other end into GateLock’s Internet port.
