Enabling the Proxy Server with an Exception
On Internet Explorer
1. Select Internet Options from the Tools Menu.
2. In the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
3. Make sure the Use a Proxy Server check box is selected.
Note: If both Use a Proxy Server and Bypass Proxy Server for Local Addresses are
selected, the GateLock IP address (192.168.253.1) will be bypassed because it is
on the same LAN as the IP address from the ISP.
4. Click Advanced. The Proxy Settings window opens.
5. In the Exceptions field, type
192.168.253.1
(GateLock’s IP address), then
click OK.
On Netscape
1. Select Preferences from the Edit Menu.
2. In the left frame, click Advanced, then click Proxies (under Advanced).
3. Select Manual Proxy Configuration.
4. In the Exceptions field, type
192.168.253.1
(GateLock’s IP address), then
click OK.
Installing GateLock with a router
If you are using a router with GateLock, you may have to follow a different
procedure. Set up your router as you would set up a hub. Do the following:
1. Open your router’s configuration console and verify that its DHCP is disabled.
DHCP is disabled by default on most routers. If your router’s DHCP cannot be
disabled, follow the
Alternative Procedure starting on page A-4.
2. Set up your GateLock and router with your PCs and xDSL/cable modem as
shown below.
