TA64 Hardware Manual

Either of these actions will transfer the content of the Limit Register into the Counter
Register and will also enable the count-down process.

Once started, a watchdog counter cannot be stopped, unless it is reset or the count-
down process has reached zero.

5.4

X-Bus (ISA) Flash

The FPGA is responsible for controlling the access of the X-Bus (ISA) Flash device
through its LPC to ISA bridge function. The CPU accesses the ISA Flash via the
LPC interface of the AMD8111 chipset. This Flash can be used as a booting device,
which holds the BIOS of the TA64 system. It can also be used as a user Flash if not
as a booting device.

A jumper (JP11) of the TA64 is used to choose the booting device. When the ISA
Flash is chosen as the booting device, it will use address range FF00.0000 --
FFFF.FFFF. When the ISA Flash is chosen as the user Flash (therefore not a booting
device), it will use the address range FC00.0000 -- FCFF.FFFF.

To summarize:

• Boot Flash: FF00.0000 -- FFFF.FFFF

• User Flash: FC00.0000 -- FCFF.FFFF
