Attach I/O Cables

To connect the TA64 to peripheral devices and networks, you must attach the proper
I/O cables to the appropriate Front Panel and VME P2 Paddle Board connectors. The
following sections provide information on what adapter cables are required and how
to attach them. Also refer to Appendix A, “Connector Pinouts and LED Indicators”
and Appendix C, “Front-Panel I/O Connections and LEDs”.

1.4.1

Serial Port A (RS232) & Port B (RS232/RS422)

Depending on the setting of solder-bead SB13 (see Appendix B, "Jumper Pins and
Solder Beads"), Serial Port A (RS232 only) and Port B (RS232 or RS422) are both
available from either the Front Panel or the VME P2 connector.

Depending on the setting of solder-bead SB20, Serial Port B is set to either RS232
mode or RS422 mode (from the Front Panel only).

1.4.1.1 Front Panel Connection

RS232 mode:

Serial Port A is only available in RS232 mode. Use cable P/N-

108373 of the integration kit (15-pin male-to-male Micro-DB15 to SubD25). If
Serial Port B is set to RS232 mode, also use cable P/N-108373.

RS422 mode:

If Serial Port B is set to RS422 mode, call Themis Customer Support

for the proper connection cable.

1.4.1.2 VME P2 Connection (

Paddle Board

)

TTYA (RS232 only) and TTYB (RS232 with modem support) are also available
through VME P2 connector through the VME P2 Paddle Board, depending on the
setting of solder bead SB13. Use cable P/N-108373 to connect to any of the four
serial ports on the P2 Paddle Board.

1.4.2

Paddle-Board only:

Serial Ports C/D (both RS232)

TTYC (RS232 only) and TTYD (RS232 only) are used as general-purpose serial
ports and are only available through VME P2 connector through the VME P2 Paddle
Board (refer to

Table A-2

, page A-4). Use cable P/N-108373 to connect to any of the

four serial ports on the P2 Paddle Board.
