1—TA64 Installation

Attach I/O Cables

1.4.3

2P2 PMC/XMC Carrier Board only:

Serial Port E (RS232) & Port F (RS232)

Located on the 2P2 PMC/XMC Carrier Board, serial Port E (TTYE) and Port F
(TTYF) are supported by the Exar XR16L2551IM Dual UART (DUART) serial
controller. Both Port E and Port F support modem signals. All signals are available
either from the Front Panel or from the VME P2 connector.

1.4.3.1 Front Panel Connection

Use cable P/N-108113 of the integration kit (male Micro DB9 to male SubDB25).
Please contact Themis Technical Support for more details.

1.4.3.2 VME P2 Connection

There is no existing paddle board that can be used to access serial Ports E and F or
any other signals through the P2 connector. You will need to provide your own con-
nectivity, or call Themis for a cost estimate on building a

custom

Paddle Board.

1.4.4

PMC (Expansion) Module Slots

The TA64 Baseboard contains a single PMC Module slot (see Appendix C, “Front-
Panel I/O Connections and LEDs”). The PMC/XMC Carrier Board contains two
(TA64/2P2) or three (TA64/2P3) PMC Module slots. User I/O pins are available
from the PMC Carrier Board through the VME P2 connector. Refer to Appendix A,
“Connector Pinouts and LED Indicators” for user I/O pin definitions.

1.4.5

Gigabit Ethernet Port

The

TA64/1

features an RJ45 connector (with two status LEDs and an embedded

transformer used for signal conversion) on the Front Panel (Port A) for
10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet interface connections.

In the case of the

TA64/2P2

, a second gigabit Ethernet network (Port B) is available

from the Front Panel of the PMC/XMC P2 Carrier Board. Both Ethernet A and
Ethernet B may be active simultaneously.

Use a standard RJ45 cable to connect to an external network. After attaching the
TA64 to a network through Ethernet A or Ethernet B, you can verify if a proper
physical connection has been made by executing the proper network command.
