Hardware Overview

The following sections provide a description of the major components of the TA64.
Detailed explanations of certain subsystems are provided in later chapters.

Baseboard

3.1.1

Turion64 Processor

The Central Processor Unit (CPU) that is used in the TA64 is the Advanced Micro
Devices (AMD) Turion64 processor, available with an operating speed of 800 MHz
and 1.6 GHz.

Turion64 architecture enables the system to use a wide range of peripherals and
high-performance operating systems, including Solaris 9 and 10, Linux Redhat v4,
Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003.
