Themis Computer

2—TA64 Features and Specifications

PMC/XMC Carrier Boards

The Memory subsystem utilizes a custom high-capacity Themis Memory Module
that supports several memory configurations up to 4 GigaBytes (see 

Table 2-1

). 

The local I/O subsystem is PCI-based, with separate PCI channels for I/O functions
and external VMEbus P2 backplane access. Specifically, the 

Front Panel 

includes

the following (see Appendix C, “Front-Panel I/O Connections and LEDs”):

• Gigabit Ethernet Port A (with two embedded LEDs and a transformer for sig-

nal conversion)

• Serial Port A (RS232) and Serial Port B (RS232/RS422)

• PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse or dual USB ports (A and B)

• Ultra320 LVD SCSI Port B 

• IDE  Port

• Four VME Status LEDs and four System Status LEDs

• PMC Module 0 (if installed)

The back-panel VMEbus 

P2 interface

 provides signals as defined in 

Table A-2

page A-4, Appendix A, “Connector Pinouts and LED Indicators”. Accessing these
signals requires a special paddle board (see the section “Paddle Board” on page 2-4)
that may be ordered at the time your TA64 is purchased. 

2.2

PMC/XMC Carrier Boards 

There are two types of Carrier Boards that will operate with the TA64: the 2P2
PMC/XMC Carrier Board and the 2P3 PMC Carrier Board.
