Chapter Overview
The chapters and appendices of this manual are briefly outlined as follows:
• Chapter 1, "TA64 Installation" provides instructions on the installation and
configuration of the TA64 for your particular environment and application.
The information contained in this chapter is
mandatory for the correct opera-
tion of the TA64. This chapter should be read in its entirety .
• Chapter 2, "TA64 Features and Specifications" provides a brief overview of
the TA64, along with its system, environmental, and power specifications.
• Chapter 3, "Hardware Overview" describes the major components on the
TA64, the memory subsystem, and the BIOS boot code.
• Chapter 4, "Universe II Description" provides detailed information concerning
the PCI-to-VMEbus interface for the TA64, the Tundra Universe II. For a
more detailed description of the Universe II, refer to the
Universe II User’s
Manual , available on the Tundra website at http://www.tundra.com .
• Chapter 5, "Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)" provides a description
of the FPGA on the TA64. Included in this chapter are descriptions of the
VME reset control, watchdog timers, X-Bus flash, and all registers.
• Appendix A, “Connector Pinouts and LED Indicators” provides part numbers,
pinouts, and signal descriptions for the I/O connectors on the TA64 Baseboard
and Paddle Board.
• Appendix B, "Jumper Pins and Solder Beads" provides a detailed description
and default configuration of each of the jumper-pins and solder beads on the
TA64, as well as diagrams illustrating the location of all jumper-pins and sol-
der beads.
• Appendix C, “Front-Panel I/O Connections and LEDs” illustrates the front
panels for all model configurations of the TA64.
• Appendix D, “Board Diagrams” provides descriptions of the major compo-
nents and connectors of the TA64 Baseboard and Paddle Board, as well as the
three primary PMC/XMC Carrier Boards.
• Appendix E, “Glossary” gives general definitions of terms and abbreviations
used in this manual.
• Appendix F, “VME Slot Configurations” illustrates the various model configu-
rations used by the TA64.
