1—TA64 Installation

TOD/NVRAM Battery Replacement

3.

With a long-nose pliers (or other suitable tool), carefully pry the sides of the
battery back and forth and upward until the four battery pins are free of the
battery socket (see

A

in

Figure 1-6

).

Discard the old battery in a suitable manner.

4.

Position the new (replacement) battery over the socket so that the pin-1 indi-
cator on the battery is aligned with the pin-1 indicator (square hole) on the
PCB (see

B

and

C

Figure 1-6

). Carefully push the battery into the socket

when the four battery pins have engaged the socket holes. The battery will be
fully seated when you hear a “snap” as you push down.

Caution:

When prying off the battery, be careful not to break traces on the PCB

surface.
