MAINTENANCE AND CARE – Bonnet Opening and Closing
BONNET (HOOD) - OPENING AND CLOSING
Opening
Use the following steps to raise the bonnet:
Enter the vehicle and pull the bonnet (hood) release lever, 1, located at the
driver’s kick panel. The bonnet will raise against the safety catch.
Place the vehicle in neutral, apply the parking brake, and exit the
vehicle.
Pull up on the safety catch release lever, 2, and raise the bonnet.
Locate the bonnet prop rod, 3, and place the end of the rod in the
appropriate hole in the passenger side of the bonnet. Make sure the
bonnet is secured before releasing the weight of the bonnet.
Closing
CAUTION
Do not press on the bonnet to close. This may dent the bonnet.
Make certain the bonnet is locked and secure prior to driving.

Use the following steps to close the bonnet:
Lift the bonnet slightly and disengage the prop rod from the bonnet.
Replace the prop rod into the securing clip.
Lower the bonnet to approximately 15 - 20 centimeters above the closed
position and allow the bonnet to drop.
Pull up lightly on the bonnet to ensure the bonnet locked properly.
