TRANSAxLE OIL
Check the transaxle level oil frequently and change the oil every 20,000 km.
Level Check
Check the level of the oil in the transaxle using the following procedure:
Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Raise
the bonnet.
Using a cloth and solvent, clean the area around the transaxle fill plug, 1.
This is to prevent dirt from entering the transaxle.
Remove the fill plug using an appropriate wrench.
Carefully place a finger in the filler plug hole and check the level of
the oil. The oil level must be even with the bottom of the drain hole or
dripping out.
Add approved oil to the transaxle, as necessary, until oil is dripping from
the filler plug hole.
Install the filler plug and tighten to 30 - 40 Nm.
Replacement
Drive the vehicle for approximately five (5) minutes to bring the transaxle
oil up to operating temperature.
Park the vehicle on an oil pit or raise the vehicle on a mechanic’s lift so
the vehicle is level.
Place a suitable container under the transaxle drain plug to catch the oil.
Using a cloth and degreaser solvent, clean the area around the transaxle
fill plug, 1 and drain plug, 2. This is to prevent dirt from entering the
transaxle.
Remove the filler plug first and the drain plug. Drain the transaxle oil.
Install the filler plug and tighten to 30 - 40 Nm. Fill the transaxle with oil
using the procedure described in “Level Check” above.
