SAFETY EQUIPMENT – Seats

Adjusting the Head Restraints

The front seats are equipped with adjustable head restraints for the safety and 

comfort of the vehicle operator and front passenger.  The occupant of the seat 

should adjust the head restraint so that the center of the pad is even with the 

ears of the seat occupant’s head.  Refer to the figure at right for head restraint 

adjustment.

The head restraints are adjustable from 0 to 64 mm, at 16 mm intervals (five 

height settings).  To adjust the head restraints, push the release button, 1, and 

raise or lower the head restraint to the desired position.
The head restraints can be removed for cleaning by pushing the release button 

and raising the head restraints past the last position and out of the seat back.  

Always replace the head restraints when finished cleaning them.

WARNING

Do not drive the vehicle with the head restraints removed.  The head 

restraints are designed to provide protection from neck injuries in the 

event of a collision.  Driving without the head restraints installed or 

adjusted improperly increases the risk of serious injury or death in an 

accident.
