BS-II / BS-III FUEL FILTER
The fuel filter for BS-II and BS-III is mounted to the transaxle, behind the radiator.
Depending on the quality of diesel fuel being used, periodically drain water and
sediment from the fuel filter. Change the fuel filter at specified intervals of
10,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first.
CAUTION
Diesel fuel is an Irritant. Wash hands immediately after handling fuel.
Draining the Filter
Drain the fuel filter as necessary to maintain engine performance. To drain
water and sediment from the filter, apply the parking brake and place a suitable
container under the filter (with the engine off). Open the drain, 1, two to three
turns and allow water and sediment to drain into container. Close the drain once
water and sediment has drained from the filter bowl.
Changing the Filter
Use the following procedure to change the fuel filter element:
Drain the fuel filter using the procedure described above.
Disconnect the fuel lines from the filter head.
Remove the filter mounting bolts, 2.
Remove the filter bowl and bottom bolt from the filter assembly.
Remove the filter element and clean the filter bowl.
Install a new filter element and re-install the bowl and mounting bolt.
Verify the filter drain is closed.
Install the filter assembly onto the transaxle and reconnect the fuel lines
at the correct locations on the filter head.
Use a hand pump to prime the fuel system before starting the engine.
Place the transaxle in neutral, start the engine, and check for fuel leaks.
