Note
:
•
This recorder cannot record data onto CD-
R or CD-RW discs.
•
We cannot assume any liability for re-
cording errors caused by power failures,
faulty discs or damage to the recorder.
•
Fingerprints and minor scratches on the
disc can affect playback and the recording
quality. Handle your discs with care.
Recording onto the hard disk
The procedure for recording onto the internal hard
disk (HDD) is the same as the procedure for recording
onto DVD-RW discs. Options such as recording qual-
ity and manual mode are available. Recordings can
be made, deleted and overwritten as often as re-
quired. The hard disk has sufficient capacity to store
many hours of high-quality video recordings. Re-
cordings are managed in the title list.
Adding chapter markers
You can set chapter markers at any point within a title
while a recording is in progress.
To start a new chapter, press the CH MARK button at
the desired point during the recording. A chapter mar-
ker symbol appears on the screen.
Note
:
Chapter markers are inserted automatically at
regular intervals. You can change the fre-
quency of these intervals in the [Recording],
[Chapter Mark] menus.
Information on recordings
•
The recording time displayed is not exact be-
cause the recorder uses a video compression
technique with variable bit rates, which means
that the exact recording time depends on the ma-
terial that is recorded.
•
When a TV program is recorded, the recording
time may be shorter if reception is poor or the pic-
ture breaks up.
•
If you are only recording freeze frames or audio,
the recording time may be shorter.
•
The displayed recording time and the remaining
time do not always add up exactly to the number
of minutes available on the disc.
•
The available recording time may be less if the
disc is processed more intensively.
•
If you are using a DVD-R or DVD+R disc, you can
continue recording until the disc is full or finalised.
Check the remaining recording time on the disc
before starting a recording.
•
Select the option [Erase Title] in the title list to e-
rase the title. The title is not deleted from the disc
and the available recording time does not in-
crease.
•
Only recordings on DVD+RW discs can be over-
written.
•
With DVD+R/RW discs, this recorder creates new
menus to update the new title or edit the title be-
fore the disc is ejected or the unit switched off. A
disc must therefore be removed from the recorder
after the DVD operating mode is selected.
