5. Press [HDD] to start a hard disk recording or insert
a DVD and press [DVD] to start a DVD recording.
Note

The recorder initialises blank discs first of
all.
6. Press RECORD once. The recording begins.
(REC LED lights up and HDD or DVD flashes on
the display.)

The source, preset quality, elapsed play time
and the remaining time appear in the recording
window.
•
The recording continues until you press STOP
or the disc or the hard disk is full.
7. Press the CH MARK button to set chapter marks
so that you can skip directly to these positions
during playback.
8. Press
STOP
to stop the recording.
Pausing the recording

PAUSE

to pause the recording.

to continue the recording.
Recording time
You can preset the recording time.
1. Press the RECORD button during a recording.
The recording time increases by 30 minutes each
time you press the button.
The recording time is then displayed on the screen. At
the end of the recording, the recorder stops and swit-
ches off.
Checking the recording time
Press DISPLAY to check the recording time. The re-
cording window appears. The remaining recording
time is also shown in the display window. Press DIS-
PLAY to close the window.
Extending the recording time
You can extend the recording time at any time by
pressing RECORD.
The recording time increases every time you press the
button, depending on the free memory space on the
DVD or HDD and the quality level.
Warning!
If the recorder is disconnected from the mains
power supply (or in the event of a power fail-
ure) during the recording phase, the recording
will be lost.
Timer recording
This recorder can be programmed to record up to 32
programs every month. If you wish to make unsuper-
vised recordings, the channels and the start and finish
times of the recordings must be programmed in ad-
vance.

Always format blank discs before inserting in
the machine for timer recordings. (see "Disc
initialisation" on page 23.)

Please remember to set the timer recording
to start at least 10 minutes early so that all of
the program is recorded.
