Timeshift
Never miss a scene from a live program again. If the
telephone rings during your favourite live program,
simply press "PAUSE" before picking up the tele-
phone. The timeshift function is activated and records
the program. After the telephone conversation or inter-
ruption, press "PAUSE" or "PLAY" to continue watch-
ing the program. Press "STOP" to watch the live pro-
gram directly.
Requirements for timeshift mode
:
•
A minimum of 10 minutes of recording ca-
pacity on the hard disk.
•
TV mode selected, TV channel preset in
the recorder.
•
No recording currently in progress.
•
A timer recording has not been pro-
grammed.
Using the timeshift function (pause, live
TV/playback)
The current program is recorded continually onto the
hard disk.
1. Press the PAUSE button during a TV program.
The display "Time Shift" appears and disappears
again after five seconds, the PAUSE symbol II on
the screen indicates the status.
Symbols from top to bottom:
Start time.
Current time.
Current timeshift position.
Audio settings.
Repeat
function.
You can view the "Time Shift" display at any time by
pressing the DISPLAY button.
If you attempt to record a copy-protected program that
cannot be decrypted, the unit records a blank screen
together with a sound signal.
1. Press the PLAY button to start playback.
Playback begins at the point at which you pressed the
PAUSE button. The recorder continues recording the
current program.
Skipping to another point in a recording during
a timeshift
1. Press the DISPLAY button during the timeshift.
The "Time Shift" display appears.

Searching forwards and backwards during a
timeshift
1. Press the DISPLAY button during a timeshift re-
cording. The "Time Shift" display appears.

button repeatedly to select different speeds.
Stopping a timeshift
1. Press STOP to exit the timeshift function. The cur-
rent program should then appear on the screen.
Recording a television program
The recorder can record TV programs onto hard disk
or DVD. Simultaneous recordings onto HDD and DVD
are not possible. To record TV programs, proceed as
follows. The recording stops when the disc is full or
when you stop the recording manually.

Also make sure that the TV input is config-
ured for this recorder.
1. Select a television channel for the recording.
2. Check the preset time in the system setup and
change the setting if necessary.
[Auto Clock Setting]: The recorder can set the time
automatically if a television signal is received.
[Clock Setting]: Set the system time manually.
3. Select the recording mode in the [Recording] me-
nu (HQ, SP, LP, EP, SLP, SEP). Remember that
quality has an effect on the recording capacity of
your storage media (DVD, HDD), see page 26.
4. Set the [Chapter Marks]. Setting chapter markers
allows you to skip from one chapter to the next
within the recording.
