Chapter 11: Troubleshooting
PROBLEM:
POSSIBLE CAUSE / SOLUTION:
SENSOR alert.
1. Sensor may not be properly connected to
monitor. Make sure sensor connector is
firmly seated in monitor connector.
2. Sensor may not be properly attached to
patient. See
Attaching the Sensor to the
Patient.
3. Adhesive tape may be too tight on patient.
Loosen adhesive tape.
4. Sensor, interface cable, or monitor may be
defective. Contact authorized repair center
for help.
BATT attention.
Monitor’s battery has become weak from
use. See
Charging the Monitor:

, pulse rate, or
pulse bar graph not
shown on monitor.

Pulse rate value erratic,
intermittent, or incor-
rect.

rect.
1. Patient may be moving. Have patient
remain as still as possible.
2. Connectors from sensor to monitor may
not be firmly seated. Make sure all connec-
tors between sensor and monitor are firmly
seated.
3. Sensor may not be properly attached to
patient. See
Attaching the Sensor to the
Patient.
4. Adhesive tape may be too tight on patient.
Loosen adhesive tape.
5. Sensor, interface cable, or monitor may be
defective. Contact authorized repair center
for help.
Monitor does not turn
on when ON key is
pressed.
1. Battery needs charging. See
Charging the
Monitor.
2. Monitor may be defective. Contact autho-
rized repair center for help.
