Brake Fluid
Check the Brake Fluid level as part of your regular
maintenance routine. Be sure to check both the left and right
master cylinders.
Checking the Fluid Level
WARNING
Do not operate the SE-3 Patroller if the brake fluid level is low.
The brakes may not activate properly and the vehicle may not
stop as intended.
1. Make sure the SE-3 Patroller is powered off,
unplugged, and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Make sure the brake fluid reservoir is level.
3. Inspect the sight glass and determine if fluid is below
the “low” mark (
Figure 66
). If fluid is below the “low”
mark, brake fluid needs to be added.
Adding Brake Fluid
Tools Required:
Phillips screwdriver
Torque
wrench
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws
on top of the brake fluid reservoir.
2. Remove the reservoir cap and gasket.
3. Add DOT 4 brake fluid; do not overfill the reservoir.
NOTICE
Use only fresh DOT 4 brake fluid from a new
container. Avoid getting any brake fluid on hands,
clothing, or painted parts. Immediately wipe up any
spilled fluid.
4. Replace the gasket and the reservoir cap.
5. Use a Phillips screwdriver to install the two screws on
top of the brake fluid reservoir.
Torque to
1.5 N-m (1.1 ft-lbf)
