Remove the Multiplex Self-Test Fixture.



Repeat the above three steps for each Multiplex Station.



Re-install the Station Device cables onto the Multiplex Adaptor rear panel.

If there are any Manual Stations attached to the Multiplex Adaptor:



Confirm that all cables to the Manual Station from both the Multiplex Adaptor

and 5000 Series Tester are connected properly.



Confirm the Manual and Handler/Prober LED‟s on the front panel of the
Manual Station toggle when the Manual/Handler switch located on the
Manual Station back panel is toggled.



Install a standard fixture (without a device installed) into the front panel of the

Manual Station.



Run the Multiplex Self-Test for this station.



Repeat above two steps for each Manual Station.

The 5000 Series Tester display will show “MUX „x‟ OK” („x‟ refers to the Multiplex
Station being tested) each time the Multiplex Self-Test is run if the Multiplex Adaptor
and Manual Stations are functioning properly.

See the Section below for possible causes if the Multiplex system is not functioning
properly.

12.5 Multiplex Error Messages / Self-Test Errors

If there are any Manual Stations attached to the Multiplex Adaptor, the following error
messages may displayed during normal operation:



M1 K2 SHORT FAIL



M2 K2 SHORT FAIL



M3 K2 SHORT FAIL



M4 K2 SHORT FAIL



M1 K2 OPEN FAIL



M2 K2 OPEN FAIL



M3 K2 OPEN FAIL



M4 K2 OPEN FAIL

These  messages  indicate  that  the  shorting  relay  (K2)  inside  the  identified  Manual
Station has failed.  The message “M2 K2 SHORT FAIL”, for example, indicates that
the  shorting  relay  (K2)  inside  Manual  Station  2  has  failed  to  short.    Each  Manual
Station  has  a  shorting  relay  that  connects  the  “A”  terminal  to  ground  whenever  the
Manual  Station  is  not  being  serviced.    This  relay  must,  therefore,  be  opened  when
the station is being serviced, thus the possible “M2 K2 OPEN FAIL” message.
