Version 1.23
MODEL 5000 SERIES MANUAL
6.6.1.3 External Test Step
Requires the STI EXT-100 optional card. See
Extended Relay Plan
for setting the
seven external relay controls available with this option.
The STI Series 5000 Tester provides a start test signal and then waits for an EOT
signal and pass/fail result signal from the external tester. These are logic level
signals on the 25-Pin D-Sub connector from the STI EXT-100 option.
6.6.1.3.1 Pass / Fail Input
Provides the means of issuing a start test and obtaining a Pass/Fail only result from
an external tester.
6.6.1.3.2 External Value Input (not implemented in this version)
Provides the means to issue a user defined setup string to the external tester (SCPI
Commands only), issue a start test signal to the external tester and receive an exact
value measurement (SCPI Command “FETCh?”) from the external tester that is then
used to determine the pass / fail result.
Also provides for the selection of RS232 (STI Series 5000 Tester COM Port 2) or
IEEE488 as the communications mode between the STI 5000 Series Tester and the
external tester.
6.6.1.4 Auto-polarity Forward/Reverse Test Step
Provides the means of selecting different bins for Auto-polarity results on devices
such as diodes and zener diodes.
6.6.1.5 Auto-range
Each programmed test step may individually be set for Auto-range (AR), Auto-range
Down Only (AR/D) or no Auto-
range. Press the “F4” key to toggle the Auto-range
between Auto-range (AR), Auto-range Down Only (AR/D) or Auto-range Off.
If Auto-range is off, the test is performed at the programmed entries and if the answer
is out of range an over/under („>‟, „<‟) range is reported. If Auto-range Down Only is
selected, then the tester will only auto range down to obtain an answer and if result is
above the programmed limit an over range („>‟) answer is reported.
6.6.1.6 Datalog
Each programmed test step may individually be set to Datalog (DL) or not. Press the
“F6” key to toggle the Datalog on and off. If datalog is off for a test step and the
device is being datalogged then the Pass/Fail result will be used for sorting but the
answer will not be reported to the PC.
6.6.1.7 Pause
Each programmed test step may have a pause of up to 60 seconds before the test is
executed. Press the “F7” key to view and change the programmed pause. Pause
entries will be rounded down to the nearest 10 milliseconds. A programmed pause is
ind
icated by the “ ” character at beginning of the displayed (and printed) test step.
This pause is not applicable in single test measure or single test pass/fail.
Note: Special Firmware can be ordered that sets the External Relays prior to the
programmed pause. In this case, the pause applies to single test measure and
single test pass/fail.
6.6.1.8 Copy
Copies the highlighted test steps into the copied test buffer (note: use the CTRL or
SHIFT key to highlight the tests desired to be copied). If the menu item is checked
