5. Powering the Thermostat
The SST-W100 requires 24V AC to power. The 24V AC can be supplied using one or two transformers. The
next few diagrams display the di
ff
erent power scenarios.
Input Voltage Range: 19V AC - 28V AC
One Transformer
If there is only one transformer powering the heating, cooling, or both, follow the diagram below.
One Transformer Scenario:
• Connect the hot side of the transformer to the
24RC
terminal.
• Connect the common side of transformer to the
24C
terminal.
• DO NOT cut jumper
JP1
.
JP1
is located on the
bottom right section of the circuit board.
Additional Information:
To power the SST-W100, both a power wire and a
common wire is required. Some older systems do
not connect the common wire from the HVAC
system to the thermostat. In this scenario, a
separate common wire will need to be run.
Two Transformers
If there is a separate transformer powering the heating and cooling system, follow the diagram below.
Two Transformer Scenario:
• Cut jumper
JP1
to separate the
24RH
and
24RC
terminals.
JP1
is located on the bottom right side
of the PCB.
• Connect the hot side of the transformer
powering the cooling system to the
24RC
terminal.
• Connect the hot side of the transformer
powering the heating system to the
24RH
terminal.
• Connect the common wire from the transformer
from the cooling system to the
24C
terminal.
Additional Information:
To power the SST-W100, both a power wire and a
common wire is required. Some older systems do
not connect the common wire from the HVAC
system to the thermostat. In this scenario, a
separate common wire will need to be run.
Additional Information
• The
24RC
terminal supplies power to the SST-W100 PCB board as well as to the
Y1
,
Y2
, and
G
relays.
• The
24RH
terminal supplies power to just the
W1
,
W2
, and
O
relays.
Refer to the wiring diagrams in the
section below for more information on connecting
power as well as information on wiring the HVAC system to the thermostat.
