CHAPTER 10.
Call Admission Control
CAC is one of the important technologies to maintain reliable voice quality.
Unlike general data packet, voice is sensitive to delay of packets. If traffic is
transmitted in real time, it is more effective to reject its session connection in
advance than to establish a session when it is anticipated packet. A user should
check whether network resources are available using the Voice CAC that
maintains voice quality and admits a new voice call.
Local CAC
Local CAC is applied to a VoIP system and its network interfaces on which
VoIP traffic is transmitted and limits VoIP calls according to the maximum
number of calls allowed on a system-wide basis and a dial-peer basis. For
example, Local CAC provides a function to cut off calls when there are more
than 10 calls in excess of the bandwidth allocated in the network interface
since it is set to have less than 10 calls in a WAN network interface.
Max call for system
Max call for system is the function to set max limitation calls in the Ubigate
iBG2016 system, and limit new calls until the number of calls is fallen down
when it reaches the maximum. This function does not operate when applied to
the whole Ubigate iBG2016 system. This is because the call limitation
function that permits max calls is used in the Call Manager.
A user is able to set max calls using call-admission max-calls and change it to
the initial value using no form command.
The initial value is the maximum value which Ubigate iBG2016 system
admits.
