System Logs-Monitoring System Events
The System Logs section contains the Syslog, and the Console Log that can be used as tools
to monitor the system’s events. These tools provide a quick look at the activity of the
Software and can help to identify and solve potential problems that occur during the
runtime of the system.
Viewing the Syslog
It is possible to capture a portion or the complete Syslog if technical support needs it.
To capture a portion of the Syslog information, Highlight the desired lines then right click
the mouse in Syslog window, a context-menu will appear, select the Copy option to copy
the data from the window to the clipboard.
To capture the entire log select the Save button, a file download window will open, select
the Save button and select a location to save the file to.
To view the syslog select the
Syslog section. A separate
Syslog window will open.
The Syslog contains a
chronological list of the
events performed by the
Software and any system
errors that occurred.
The Syslog displays the time,
date and message for each
event performed or system
error that occurred.
The most recent events are
listed first in the list, and the
list scrolls automatically to
display the most current
events.
The Syslog is not only a
useful informational tool, but
can also be helpful in
diagnostic situations. For
example, it can be used for
debugging and problem
determination purposes.
