Measurements
Aspiration Flow Rate (mL/min):
This refers to the syringe suction velocity. This is to set the sample
fl ow rate of the sensor.
The standard products are set to 25 mL / min (10 mL / min : Factory
option).
The allowable setting range is 5 to 100 mL / min (1 mL / min step).
Important
The aspiration fl ow rate set here must be the same as the
aspiration fl ow rate for the Performance Test Data (see page
64) selected by the same parameter setting. If the setting is
different, an error message will appear and measurement
cannot be carried out (see page 143).
Drain Flow Rate (mL/min):
This refers to the syringe drain velocity. Set it taking the sample viscos-
ity etc., into consideration.
The allowable setting range is 1 to 100 mL / min (1 mL / min step).
Tare Volume (mL):
To purge the last sample or to stabilize the fl ow rate, normally set a
slightly higher volume than the dead volume (approx. 0.3 mL) inside
the sampling tube between the sample and the sensor.
In some cases, when the sample in the a sampling tube is changed from
stationary to suction condition, particles previously stuck on the walls
inside the fl ow channel will come off and the particle number concentra-
tion in the sample may subsequently rise. Take this into consideration
when setting the tare volume.
The allowable setting range is 0.1 to 10.0 mL (0.1 mL step).
The setting value of tare volume is constantly added 0.2 mL, so actual
tare volume range is 0.3 (dead volume) to 10.2 mL.
Measurement Volume (mL):
This sets the volume in which particles are counted.
The allowable setting range is [(0.2 mL up to Syringe volume) – (Tare
0.2 mL)] (0.1 mL step). For a standard 25 mL syringe, it will
be 0.2 to 24.7 mL.
