Notes on the fusing belt smoothing operation (for reduced operator downtime)
The fusing nip of Leo-2 is wider compared to the predecessor Leo-1, to support the new toner and
to generate high productivity even with thick stocks. This in turn causes the paper edges to create
deeper scratches on the fusing belt. To polish the belt, operators may have to spend more time
running the belt smoothing operation manually.
To help operators reduce this downtime, it is recommended to set the belt smoothing operation to
run automatically. Take note of the relation between the Adjustment Settings for Operators and
Advanced Settings regarding this belt smoothing operation, as summarized in the table below.

If Advanced Settings #1243-02 and Adjustment Settings for Operators #0510-01 are both set
to default (1, 0), the belt smoothing operation does not run, as highlighted in yellow.
To enable automatic operation, you must select 1~3 in #0510-01.
For example, selecting [3: Most Frequent], will run the operation at every 389 pages.
This, however, can be modified in SP1-133-008. Changing the value to 100 will run the
operation at every 100 pages. (See Note 1 below.)
The above settings apply to all medias. (See Note 2 below.) For medias that do not require the
belt smoothing operation, make sure to select [0: Off] in #1243-02.
Belt smoothing operation runs in between jobs. That is, even if the operation interval is set to
389 pages, if a 1000-page job is printed, the operation runs after completing the job.
Note 1: Value set in SP1-133-006 is defined as the value for #1243-02: [1 Normal].
#1243-02 [2 Frequent], [3 More Frequent] and [4 Most Frequent] are x2, x5 and x10 the
value defined for [1].
Note 2: Applicable for paper sizes with a feeding edge 324mm or shorter. Automatic belt
smoothing operation is inapplicable for sizes over 324mm.
