• Air / water heat pumps require planning permission in Wales and
Northern Ireland and must meet certain criteria in England and Scot-
land to be classed as a permitted development . If in doubt, check with
your local planning office .
• For details on preventing water pipes freezing and heat and cold
protection, see the WRAS guidelines and BS EN 806 and BS 6700 .
• The design handbook for split systems and monobloc systems
contains further information on the device .
