NfREMOTE CLIENT SOFTWARE
Initiating a Connection from Omnia.7 (Inbound Connection)
Normally, an instance of NfRemote running on a remote computer initiates the connection to an Omnia.7
(“outbound” connection). However, there are some situations where it is more appropriate for Omnia.7 to initiate
the connection to an instance of NfRemote on a remote computer (“inbound” connection).
One example of how this can be used is for technical support. By creating an inbound connection, you are connect-
ing to the support engineer’s NfRemote computer which in turn allows them to control your Omnia.7.
In such a situation, the support engineer would provide an IP address (or host name) and a port number separated
by a colon (123.45.67.89:7373 for example). Because IP addresses are commonly dynamically allocated, using a
host name is the preferred convention.
The NfRemote Home Screen
Depending upon the size of the display on the PC hosting the NfRemote software (and upon how the window itself
is sized), the Menu Bar at the top of the Home Screen shows two or more drop-down menus capable of showing
different controls. The current processing core being viewed as can the location of the particular Omnia.7 (us-
er-customized) along with the CPU load of Omnia.7 itself or that of the remote PC. Controls for Speaker Volume,
Headphone Volume, and Client Audio Volume are also available here. The Menu button and 6 display preset
buttons round out the display.
♦
The
Speaker Volume
control adjusts the output level of whatever audio you have routed to the Speaker
Output. Likewise, the
Headphone Volume
control adjusts the output level of the audio you have routed
to the Headphone Output. Each control displays the patch point currently being monitored. Orange bars
within the controls indicate that the limiters in the corresponding monitor output are active. Details of
the Speaker Output and Headphone Output are described in the
Monitor Outputs
section of this manual.
The Client Audio Volume
adjusts the output level of audio streaming back to the host PC from Omnia.7.
