Link Loss Carry Forward (LLCF)
The R821 incorporates LLCF as an aid in troubleshooting a remote
connection. Through software, LLCF can be disabled or enabled
independently on each port.
The diagram below shows a typical network configuration with good link
status using a services line card for remote connectivity. LLCF is enabled
on Port 1.
If the remote cable breaks or fails, the R821 carries that link loss forward
to the switch/hub which generates a trap to the management station. The
administrator can then determine the source of the problem.
