7 - MAINTENANCE
Front swivel gearbox - oil change
Use SAE 80W-90 or an equivalent gear oil to maintain
the oil level.
The oil capacity of the front swivel gearbox is approxi-
mately:
• Upper gearbox:
1.2 L ( 0.3 US gal )
• Lower gearbox:
2.2 L ( 0.6 US gal )
To change the oil level of the gearbox, proceed as fol-
lows:
Upper-half swivel gearbox:
1. Position a catch pan under the gearbox and re-
move the drain plug
(1) .
2. Remove the breather/fill plug.
3. Allow all of the gear oil to drain out. Dispose of the
oil in accordance with local environmental regula-
tions.
4. Clean the threads of the drain plug (1) .
5. Apply fresh L

LACK
sealant to
the threads of the drain plug (1) .
6. Install the drain plug. Securely tighten the plug.
7. Remove the oil level check plug (2) .
8. Add the specified amount of gear oil. The oil level
should be even with the check plug hole.
9. Install the breather/fill plug and the check plug (2)
when the procedure is complete. Securely tighten
both plugs.

Lower-half swivel gearbox:

4. Clean the threads of the drain plug (1) .

sealant to
the threads of the drain plug (1) .
6. Install the drain plug. Securely tighten the drain
plug.
7. Remove the oil level check plug (4) .
8. Add the specified amount of gear oil. The oil level
should be even with the oil level check plug hole.
9. Install the breather/fill plug and the oil level check
plug when the procedure is complete. Securely
tighten both plugs.
