7 - MAINTENANCE

Conditioner drive belt tension - check

To check the conditioner drive belts tension, proceed as
follows:

1. Remove the guard

(1)

on the right-hand side of the

implement.

2. Remove the guard

(2)

from the top of the header.

3. Loosen the tensioner locknut

(1)

until all tension is re-

lieved from the drive belt idler spring

(2)

NOTE:

Figure

shows the tensioner for a roll conditioner

implement. The location, function, and tension specifica-
tion of the conditioner drive is the same for a flail condi-
tioner, however, the orientation of the tension spring is dif-
ferent. Figure

shows the tensioner for a flail conditioner

and for a polyethylene (PE) finger conditioner implement.

4. Tighten the tensioner locknut to tension the belt. The

belt is properly tensioned when the spring is stretched
to a length of

190 – 200 mm

(

7.48 – 7.87 in

) from inside

of hook to inside of hook.

5. Reinstall the shields

(1)

when the procedure is com-

plete.
