4 - OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Upon first use with the tractor, make sure that the PTO
shaft

is sized for the attached tractor.

4. Pull the PTO shaft apart and attach one half to the

tractor and the other half to the mower-conditioner.

5. Slowly raise the lower lift arms

until the shafts are

parallel with the ground. Hold the two shafts next to
each other to check if the PTO shaft

will bottom

out during operation.

6. Remove the shaft that is attached to the tractor and

proceed with corrective action, if required.

If the PTO shaft bottoms out or the minimum free length
of the PTO shaft is less than

40 mm

7. Attach the check chain bracket

to the top link

mounting position on the tractor with the supplied pin
and two linchpins.

8. For field operation, adjust the hitch position to the

height H of

lock the lower lift arms in this position to prevent side-
ways movement.

NOTICE:

Varying from this height during operation can

cause the PTO shaft to bottom out, resulting in dam-
age to the tractor and/or the mower-conditioner.

ground to the center line of the PTO shaft is approxi-
mately

9. Adjust the check chain until the check chain is as short

as possible with the hitch in this position.

NOTE:

The check chains are not intended to carry the

weight of the tongue, but to prevent inadvertent lower-
ing of the hitch, which could result in PTO shaft dam-
age. The check chain should become tight and pre-
vent the hitch from lowering more than

25 – 102 mm

1 – 4 in

) from the initial position.

NOTICE:

Failure to properly use the check chains

could pull the primary PTO shaft apart. This could
result in damage to the PTO shaft and to the tractor.

10. Secure any excess chain to prevent damage to the

drive line.
