6 - WORKING OPERATIONS
Roll pressure
DANGER
Entanglement hazard!
Disengage the Power Take-Off (PTO), turn off
the engine, and remove the key. Wait for all
movement to stop before you leave the oper-
ator's position. Never adjust, lubricate, clean,
or remove a blockage of crop material when
the engine is on.
Failure to comply will result in death or serious
injury.

A roll pressure spring
(1)
on each side of the header con-
trols the resistance of the upper conditioner roll. The eye
bolt
(2)
that is connected to the spring allows for roll pres-
sure adjustment.
It may be difficult to determine an optimal setting for roll
pressure.
• In pure grass crops, tighten the springs.
• In clover, alfalfa, or similar leafy crops, loosen the
springs.
Before you start the operation, adjust the roll tension
spring on each side of the header so that approximately
20 mm
(
0.79 in
) of thread
(A)
is exposed. Adjust the roll
tension during the operation to achieve the desired level
of conditioning.
To adjust the roll pressure, proceed as follows:
1. Install the open-ended fork of the adjustment tool onto
the adjustment nut
(3)
. Access the adjustment nut
from behind the flotation springs.
2. Use the tool to turn the adjustment nut.
○ Turn the adjustment nut clockwise to increase the
level of conditioning.
○ Turn the adjustment nut counter-clockwise to de-
crease the level of conditioning.
NOTE:
Always adjust the roll pressure spring on each side
of the implement equally.
